Hello and thank you for stopping by. I am Ian R. Clayton, Author of Rogues in Paradise. I am Trinidadian by birth and a world citizen by nature. I have traveled extensively with roots in England, Ireland, Canada, Spain, and the Caribbean.
My Caribbean roots include schooling in Trinidad, Jamaica, Guyana, and Barbados. I studied hospitality and catering in the UK and business and finance at Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec, with postgraduate studies in computer science at both Concordia and McGill University.
I have over twenty years of experience in travel, building leading travel technology and digital media applications for hotels and tourism. I am also an avid blogger, photographer, and videographer. I write about travel, people, and places for fun and have published many articles as well as books on travel and technology.
I am an award-winning innovator and author of several books on tourism and digital media. My work has been featured inĀ The New York Times and in many publications and media including Earth Observation Magazine, Sea Technology, Research Gate, Academia, and Computers in Education.
Rogues in Paradise is my first non-fiction Historical narrative. It is a whimsical look at life behind the facade of Barbados’ beautiful beaches and luxury resorts, a top Caribbean vacation island.
You will meet many quirky and delightful characters in the pages of the book. Some, like the Bajan Yardfowl, will surprise you with thought-provoking insights! They are fun and witty people who will make you laugh out loud. There is a serious side to it, with many life lessons, starting from a troubled past of slavery and colonialism to an independent black nation with its own government.
