Large countries benefit from ties to scientific and weather analysis, but typically small islands have to scurry around to find out about dangerous weather systems on the move. The new initiative on equity on warning will help small states be aware and ready. This type of mechanism is critical for small island developing states like Barbados, which are highly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change but often have limited resources and financial flexibility to respond to disasters.
